Think of it as the “Art” of Fundraising. You can do your part for people in need in Africa, Rockland and Nyack on Thursday April 23 at Nyack High School.
Soup Angels of Nyack, Helping Hands in Rockland County, Midnight Run in NYC and the Mzuzu Academy in Malawi, Africa will benefit when the Nyack High School Visual Arts Department, ArtWorks and S.O.S. (Students Opposing Starvation) join forces to raise awareness and raise funds for these groups. Over 300 works of art will be on exhibit as well as 100 glazed Empty Bowls and 100 ArtCards which will be available for purchase to support the three non-profit groups.
Attendees can donate to Empty Bowls by purchasing an original, glazed soup bowl that will be filled with homemade soup… the soup is free! Each bowl will be sold at student rate of $15 or adult rate of $20 per bowl. The concept of empty bowls began with S.O.S., a Nyack High School group which has been active for over 30 years and promotes community service to provide meals to the hungry and end hunger.
The public can also support these groups by purchasing ArtCards, a postcard-size original work created by aspiring and local artists. All submitted ArtCards can be purchased at $20 per card. .
This Spring Arts Show is open to the public from 6-8p on April 23 at Nyack High School, 360 Christian Herald Road in Upper Nyack.
