Did You Know: There’s an App for That Emergency

The Nyack Library will close at 3p on Mon Jan 26 due to the impending snow storm.

imagesDid you know the American Red Cross has apps with tips for everyday emergencies and natural disasters? There’s an app for first aid, blood, pet first aid, floods, tornados, earthquakes, wildfires, and hurricanes. The First Aid apps have preloaded content so you don’t need the internet to access information. The natural disaster apps monitor conditions in your area throughout the storm track, prepare your family and home, find help and let others know you are safe even if the power is out. There’s also a Monster Guard app which is a fun and engaging game designed specifically for kids aged 7 – 11 to learn how to prepare for real life emergencies at home and in other environments. These apps are free and are available in the Apple App store and the Google Play store.
