The Last Weekender B4 Xmas: Sing, Skate, Shop & Rock

Here’s your Fri-Sun rundown of what to do and where to do it.

Friday

  • imgres-6Skate with Santa at Bear Mountain Ice Rink! Adults $5, children (ages 4-22) $4. 8-9:30p at Bear Mountain Ice Rink, Bear Mountain State Park, Palisades Interstate Parkway.
  • Sing We Enchanted, an a cappella vocal ensemble, performs “An Elizabethan Christmas: Early English Songs & Carols”. The ensemble’s holiday program includes sacred and secular carols. Purchase advanced tickets here. 7:30p at the Carnegie Room, Nyack Library, 59 S. Broadway.
  • A Narrative Impulse: The Bookworks and Interpretive Paintings of Beata Wehr, curated by Cynthia Imperatore at Amis Gallery. 6-8p at 79 1/2 South Broadway.

Saturday

  • Hillel8th-870x1182_c-1Still have a daunting holiday shopping list? Be merry, shop local and enjoy Free Parking in the Village of Nyack this Sat & Sun.
  • Chanukah Unity Concert featuring the chart-topping band 8th Day. The evening continues with the Shiru Lo Children’s Choir and a Chanukah menorah candle-lighting. $25, $36 and VIP $72 – purchase tickets here. 8:30p (doors open at 8p) at Rockland Community College, Cultural Arts Theater, 145 College Road, Suffern.
  • Finn and the Sharks Annual Holiday Feeding Frenzy brings rockabilly and roots-rockin’ Americana to Piermont. $25 – purchase tickets here. 8p at Turning Point, 468 Piermont Ave, Piermont.
  • The Whiskey Girls, a duo of “sweetly ferocious singing cellists,” performs zany originals and covers. Adults $20, 18 and under free. 7p at Rockland Conservatory, 45 S. Main St, Pearl River.
  • The cycle of Rachmaninoff Chamber Music finishes with his famed Vocalise, as well as the rarely performed string quartets and early works for cello, violin and piano. Purchase advanced tickets here. 7:30p at the Carnegie Room, Nyack Library, 59 S Broadway.
  • Come and have a Berry Merry Holiday at Bear Mountain Zoo. Families can make tasty snacks for the black bears and watch as the bears unwrap their gift boxes full of treats! 10:30a at Bear Mountain Zoo, Bear Mountain, Palisades Interstate Parkway.
  • The Historical Society of Rockland presents its annual holiday exhibits, The Joy of Toys and Pretty Paper. Through Jan 11, on Sat and Sun, noon-4p, Historical Society of Rockland, 20 Zukor Rd, New City.
  • Toys of the Past: Childhood Memories Before 1955 – The exhibit includes dolls, doll houses, stuffed animals, children’s books, games and toy soldiers. On Saturdays through February. From 1-4p at the Historical Society of the Nyacks Museum, 50 Piermont Ave, behind Nyack Library and across from Memorial Park.

Sunday

Blank-Fest, the annual Nyack rock and roll benefit that collects blankets to help the homelessad_Blankfest2014, returns for its 18th year with 12 hours of indie rock. From 12n-12m at Hudson House of Nyack, 134 Main St.
