Revised AM Tappan Zee Express Times Start Tues 12/9

tzxMap20111105The Rockland County Dept of Transportation has optimized five Tappan Zee Express bus routes to adjust for morning rush hour traffic to better sync up with Metro North departure times in Tarrytown. tzxBUS.com, a NyackNewsAndViews website which provides customized bus and train times for the TZX, has been updated to reflect these changes using the new schedules provided by the Rockland County Dept of Transportation.

Five Mon-Fri Morning Rush routes have been changed; two afternoon routes have also been optimized.

Eastbound (Rockland –> Tarrytown –> Grand Central) changes

  • The 6:20a express bus from the Palisades Center Park & Ride will now depart five minutes earlier at 6:15a to connect with the 6:49a train at Tarrytown.
  • The 6:05a local bus from the Spring Valley Transit Center will now depart five minutes earlier at 6a, and will serve Palisades Center Park & Ride five minutes earlier at 6:15a This bus will now also serve the Palisades Center Stores bus stop at 6:17a before proceeding through Nyack and connecting with the 6:59 train at Tarrytown.
  • The 6:37a express bus from the Palisades Center Park & Ride will now depart seven minutes earlier at 6:30a to connect with the 6:59a train at Tarrytown.
  • The 6:50a express bus from the Palisades Center Park & Ride will now depart six minutes earlier at 6:44a to connect with the 7:22a train at Tarrytown.
  • The 8:31a local bus from Suffern will now depart 10 minutes earlier at 8:21a, and will serve Palisades Center Park & Ride 10 minutes earlier at 8:47a to connect with the 9:44a train at Tarrytown.

Westbound (GCT –> T’Town –> Rockland) changes

  • The 8:15a local TZx bus from Tarrytown Station will depart three minutes later at 8:18a to accommodate passengers connecting from the 8:14a train arrival.
  • The 7:10p local TZx bus from White Plains (serving Tarrytown Station at 7:35p) will now also serve the Palisades Center Stores stop at 8:01p to enable riders to more easily transfer to and from the local TOR service.

“The Public Transportation Department has worked closely with our bus operator, Brega Transport Corp., to identify and respond to changing traffic patterns and congestion in both the Route 59 and I? 287 corridors,” said rockland County Dept of Transportation Acting Commissioner Douglas Schuetz. “We have been able to identify the buses most impacted and build more time into the schedules to help improve train connections.”
