Nyack Weekender for Aug 29-31, 2014

Piermont Train StationHere’s a run down of what to do and where to do it this weekend.

Saturday

  • The Nyack Saturday Farmer’s Market features local farmers, florists, vendors and artists from 8a-1p in the Main Street parking lot.
  • Visit Piermont’s historic railroad station. Learn about Piermont’s unique railroad history as well as the station’s inhabitants. 12n-3p, 50 Ash Street, Piermont.
  • Carnegie Concert Series, Underground Music Festival: Nyack natives DJ BABL (Jake Sokolov) and FlapJak (Brittany Raglin) team up for two sets of insane music. BABL, a recent graduate of Bard College for Music, is a classically trained cellist who’s eclectic and far reaching musical influences give his own music a singular appeal. FlapJak, a member of the vehement Brooklyn based rap group Inner City Kids, has a relaxed flow and a truthful and undistorted message. 9-11p, Carnegie-Farian Room, Nyack Library, 59 South Broadway.

Next Week:

Fri Sept 5: Nyack’s Artopee Way Municipal Parking lot gets a one night makeover into a FREE drive-in theater, for a showing of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Viewers can sit in their cars and tune into a simultaneous podcast of the film on their radios or bring lawn chairs and picnics and sit under the stars. Members of the Suburbia Roller Derby team will skate delectables provided by local vendors right to your seat.
