Photographer, gallery owner and entrepreneur Victor Gagliardi will be conducting a series of workshops this spring entitled The Business of Art. The eight week course will help artists turn passion their into their business.
The sessions will he held at Gagliardi’s gallery at 39 Hudson Ave, Nyack on alternate Tuesdays, from 6:30-8:30p from March 4 to June 10. The fee for the course is $395.
There will be a free informational session on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 6:30p.

Sessions 1 & 2 – Dealing with Rejection
Victor Gagliardi
Working in partnership with top architectural and interior design firms, Victor has provided artwork on more than 400 corporate projects. He consults in photo and environmental design, recently completing one of the largest photographic installations in NYC at Mt. Sinai Hospital.
Victor has authored three books, a line of gift card boxes and journals where photographs are blended with philosophical encouragement.
His self-published, self-marketed books are carried by over 1600 independent booksellers, museums and gift stores in eight countries. Young & Rubicam, the ad agency, purchased 175 copies and Oprah Winfrey bought 10 copies.

Overcoming stumbling blocks and accepting rejection as part of a process that ultimately can lead to success. Sessions develop interactive strategies for selling your work and address issues such as how to work with people whom initially put you off. Session 3 Organizing – The Finances Of Your Art Business
Legal tips for retaining the maximum amount of your income, deduction strategies, and setting up your business as a legal entity and preparing for the future.
Session 4 – Developing Business Relationships
Finding the people who have a need for your artwork. Alternative ways of selling multiple pieces of your art using phone calling, mailings, and Internet based methods.
Session 5 – How to Present Your Artwork
This session will address how to present your work for both sales presentations and for final installation. Framing, matting, and where to get affordable materials will be discussed.
Session 6 – The Art of the Face-to-Face
Discussing and practicing strategies that can lead to getting artwork projects.
Session 7 – The Art of the Proposal
How to structure an artwork proposal for a perspective client.
Session 8 – The Art of the Deal
Negotiating skills that will work to your advantage in selling your work to buyer
