Nyack Dec 3 — As investigators determine the cause of Sunday’s Metro North derailment near Yonkers and track workers repair the damage, Rockland commuters are searching for other ways to get to work in New York City.
Via the TZx: The Rockland County Dept of Transportation will send “Tarrytown only” Tappan Zee Express buses to both the Tarrytown and White Plains Metro North stations until further notice. TZx/Metro-North Tarrytown Unitickets and other Hudson Line commutation tickets will be honored on Harlem line trains from White Plains.
Rockland Coach: You can take the 9a bus (or 9t or 9at) bus to the Port Authority bus station at the GWB or 42nd Street in Manhattan. The trip will take you about 75 minutes.
NJ Transit from Suffern: You can take the train from Suffern almost all the way to NYC (you will need to switch to the PATH or another NJ Transit train to cross the river). Until service is restored on the Hudson River Line south of Yonkers, NJ transit is accepting Hudson Line commutation tickets on both the Port Jervis and Pascack Valley Lines.
Park and Ride on NYC’s doorstep: Two convenient close-to-Manhattan Park and Ride’s are also available at the Vince Lombardi Park and Ride and Rt 3 / North Bergen Park and Ride. For a single +/- $10 ticket, you can park all day and get bussed from the lot to the PABT at 42nd Street.
