Inaugurating a New Day in Rockland

Rockland County Executive Ed Day New City, Dec 31 — Rockland  gets a new county executive on New Year’s Day, and Ed Day is inviting everyone to his swearing ceremony in and public reception. “I want local residents of all ages and backgrounds to feel that Rockland County is moving forward, that we are a community with a shared vision, that we have a direction and we will get there together,” said Day.

Only the third County Executive in the history of the county, Day succeeds Scott Vanderhoef who served 20 years in the position. John T. Grant, who served from 1986-1993, was Rockland’s first elected County Executive. The position did not exist prior to 1986.

Day’s inauguration will be held at the Rockland County Fire Training Center, 35 Firemen’s Memorial Drive in Pomona beginning at 11a. A reception will follow the ceremony.

Day’s office says that Twitter fans of Rockland County politics can follow the action with live tweets during the inauguration via Twitter.
