Even if the weather outside turns frightful, there are lots of  things that are delightful for kids to do during the holiday season. Here are some very fun events that are happening right in our backyard.

WINTERFEST with Sukey Molloy & Friends!

Friday, Dec 6, 2013  at 6:15p in the Nyack Center

Parents, children, and other family members can move, dance, and sing through song, video, and felt animation with Sukey Molloy and Friends! This free First Friday concert is perfect for children between the ages of one to seven years old. More information at SukeyMolloy.com.

Holiday Lights of Nyack

December 6th, 2013 – 5:30-7p at Nyack’s Veterans Park Gazebo

The Nyack Chamber of Commerce welcomes the annual tree lighting. Everyone in the family is welcomed to be a part of this special event. Attendees will experience live caroling, holiday story reading, musical entertainment, free refreshments, and a visit from Santa. For more information, please visit NyackChamber.org.

Veterans Park Gazebo is located at the corner of Main and Cedar Streets in downtown Nyack.

Historical Society of Rockland County: St. Nicholas Day Program

Saturday, December 7, 2013 – 12n, 1:30p, 3:00p and
Sunday December 8, 2013 – 10:30a, 12n, 1:30p at the Jacob Blauvelt House in New City.

Children of all ages are welcome to celebrate St. Nicholas where each child will receive a special treat, meet St. Nicholas, hear wonderful stories and enjoy refreshments. There are specific time slots to order tickets for. Tickets are $5 for children and adults and are selling out quickly for this memorable experience! Buy tickets online at Rocklandhistory.org.

JCC’s Annual Character Breakfast

Sunday, December 22, 2013 – 9:30a-11:30a

Spend your morning with your favorite characters in costume along with crafts, face painting, balloon art, a bounce house, door prizes, raffles, and breakfast. This character breakfast is ideal for children between the ages of one to twelve years old.

Tickets are $15 when purchased before December 11th. Tickets are $20 when purchased after December 12. Children under two years old enter for free. Buy tickets online at JccRockland.org.

Milk & Cookies Playhouse -The Bossy Frog Band – Have a Hoppy New Year Concert

Saturday, December 28th, 2013 – 11a and 1p at the Nyack Center.

The Bossy Frog Band presents their annual winter musical holiday extravaganza in December, lead by award-winning children’s musician Jeffrey Friedberg. Children will be able to look forward to hearing new songs along with their favorites. Milk and cookies will be served after this hoppy show! This concert is perfect for children between the ages of one and five years old.

Tickets are $12 in advance/$15 on the day of the performance – Children under two get in for free. Buy tickets on line at ArtsRock.org.
