This church tour begins a multi-year daytrip series: History in Your Own Backyard. This series of historic Rockland County day trips focusing on historic houses of worship, cemeteries and pipe organs in Rockland County is sponsored by The Historical Society of Rockland County (HSRC). The tours that begin on June 1,  are expected to extend through 2015.

“During 2012, the HSRC sponsored several similar day trips through our historic County.  These trips were very popular, and we are thrilled to be building on this past success, especially as we are kicking it off on NY State Heritage Weekend,” said Clare Sheridan, President of the Historical Society of Rockland County.

The June 1st day trip begins at Il Fresco Restaurant, 15 Kings Highway  in Orangeburg at 8:45a and ends after a lunch at the same location at approximately 2p.  The fee for the trip is $69 per person ($64 per person for members of the HSRC ).  The ticket price includes bus transportation, guided tours and a gourmet lunch. Space is limited and pre-paid reservations are required.

Future trips in the 2013 series include

The Historic Cemeteries of Orangetown and Clarkstown: Saturday, September 21

The Pipe Organs of Orangetown and Clarkstown: Saturday, November 16

Similar tours will be scheduled in other areas of Rockland County in 2014 and 2015.
