“Who To Hire?” Not a Lecture But a Listen At Nyack Library

by Nyack Library

The Nyack Library, which frequently sponsors lectures where authors and leaders talk to the community, will hold a meeting to listen to the community about what qualities and skills it wants to see in the next Library Director.  On Sat Sept 29 at 2p, the library’s Search Committee will hear from the public and use this input to frame questions to ask the candidates.

The library is now engaged in a search for new leadership following the retirement of its longtime director James Mahoney. This public meeting will be held in the Nyack Library’s lower level meeting room. We look forward to seeing  you there and to hearing your views.

The children of Nyack raised money to pay for the plaque which has Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address inscribed on it. Nyack’s veterans of the Civil War gathered for this picture with the new memorial. Abraham Lincoln’s son, Robert, later wrote a letter thanking the children of Nyack who had contributed to the memorial. This letter is still in possession of the library.
