As of 930a on Sun Aug 12, a Boil Water Alert was still in affect for all communities served by the Nyack Water Department. That status will apply until we hear the ALL CLEAR which we will pass along as soon as it happens.
If the summer heat doesn’t have you boiling, this notice from the water department should make you boil — for your own good.
A water main break in West Nyack has impacted the entire Village of Nyack water system. There is a system wide boil water notice in effect until further notice.
A boil water notice means that users should bring tap water to a rolling boil for one minute and cool before using- or use bottled water certified for sale by the New York State Department of Health. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and preparing food until the alert has been lifted.
The Nyack Water Department says the break has been isolated and repairs are underway.
Please make every effort to conserve water use, so it is available for emergencies, if needed. For more information, visit Nyack-NY.gov.
