Mario Cuomo Bridge

TZB: Mon-Fri Fixes; Talk Teardown Thurs

It’s a big week for the big bridge between Nyack and Tarrytown. The Governor’s Office is in town on a good will tour talking to residents about plans for  building a new bridge. Meanwhile, expect lane closures and lots’o traffic during deck replacement work each evening and overnight Mon-Fri, July 23-27.

There will be an early morning meeting at 8:30a on Thurs July 26 at Dominican College in Orangetown to talk about the bridge. For everyone East of the Hudson, the Governor’s staff will meet and greet on Wed 7/25  at 8a at Berkeley College in White Plains. (Let’s hope they are serving coffee for both of these unusual public pre-9a meetings).

Meanwhile, the bridge decking repair schedule ramps up this week with work beginning every night at 8p and going until 6a.

  • On Mon-Thurs this week, the 287 entrance on Broadway in South Nyack at Interchange 10 will be closed from 8p-6a. The two left southbound lanes will be closed with an additional left southbound lane shutting down at 11p from milepost 13.2 to milepost 17.9 on the Tappan Zee Bridge. In addition, this will result in the closure of one left northbound lane at 9 p.m., and an additional left northbound lane at 11 p.m. until 6 a.m. from milepost 13.2 to milepost 16.2 also on the Tappan Zee Bridge. At least one lane southbound will be opened to traffic from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. and one lane northbound will be opened to traffic from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.During Monday through Wednesday night operations, due to the northbound lane closures, the entrance ramp from Broadway (southbound) in Tarrytown will also be closed from 9p until 6a. All traffic will be detoured to the entrance ramp from Route 119.Friday, July 27 and Saturday, July 28
  • On Fri and Sat, work will begin at 9p and continue until 7a. The South Nyack and Tarrytown exits will also be closed.

All scheduled work is weather-dependent and is subject to change.
