Nyack, June 14 — The New York State Thruway Authority says there will be a “test blast” near the the Tappan Zee Bridge on Friday, June 15 between the hours of 10a and 12n. The small detonation will be conducted as part of the ongoing examination of the Hudson River sub-bottom conditions prior to planned construction this Fall.
Workers near the Rockland County side of the TZB will set off the detonation to create a vibration to measure soil stability in the Hudson River bed.
Traffic on the Tappan Zee Bridge will not be affected. However, marine traffic on the Hudson River will be halted within a 500-foot buffer zone during the actual test.
