Need Work? Americorps’ Got Your Number (of hours)

Americorps is looking a few good men. And women, too.

Young adults 21 and older can apply for one of four trainer assistant jobs. These paid part-time community service opportunities are part of the Youth Employment Program, T.E.E.N. Works. Members will serve 300-hours from March until August of this year.

For their service, members receive a $2,115 living stipend and a $1,132 educational award for 300 hours of service as a Trainer Assistant. The education award can be used to pay towards college tuition or a qualified student loan. Members also receive training, ability to network and the experience of working with a spectrum of youth development professionals to add to their resume. This is a wonderful opportunity for college/graduate students and youth advocates who want to make a difference in the lives of young people.

Potential candidates must be available Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Additional weekdays and some weekends may be required. Qualifications are a minimum of an Associates Degree and six months work experience. Candidates need to have flexibility, be a self-starter, show attention to detail, and act as a role model for all program participants.

Members will take on responsibilities of delivering curriculum on workforce readiness, life skills and conduct assessments and reporting.

Applications are currently being accepted. For more information, or to request an application, please contact Kathy at 845-708-7307 or e-mail rcamericorps@co.rockland.ny.us.
