Nyack Gets SMASHed on Friday

Nyack, Dec 16 — Don’t blame the bars on Main Street if people are getting SMASHed – at least not for today. SMASH, an NBC TV show about the behind-the-scenes struggles of producing a musical about the life of Marilyn Monroe comes to Nyack on Friday to tape an upcoming episode.

Trucks will begin to setup on Franklin Street near Main as early as 5a. The crews have promised village officials that the taping will not interfere with Main Street traffic as the Christmas shopping countdown continues. The shoot, which will center around the Wasabi restaurant, should be complete by mid-afternoon before it wraps up at the BOCES school on Midland and 5th Avenue later in the day.

Nyack will receive about $6,000 from the production company for permits and logistics to support the taping. SMASH is slated to premier on NBC on Monday, Feb 6, 2012.
