Rockland FEMA Center To Close This Week

Pomona, Oct 8 — Rockland residents and businesses who suffered damages from Hurricane Irene should visit The FEMA Recovery Center in Pomona before Thursday, Oct. 13 when it is scheduled to close. The center is now open Monday through Saturday from 8a – 8p.

FEMA’s Disaster Recovery Center is located in the 2nd floor Community Room at Provident Bank Baseball Stadium,  1 Provident Bank Park Drive in Pomona.

The deadline for residents and businesses to register a claim is October 31, 2011. Residents can still register online or check the status of an application at www.disasterassistance.gov.  FEMA phone lines (1-800-621-FEMA) continue to be open seven days a week from 7a – 10p.

Additional organizations set up at the Disaster Recovery site include: the New York State Dept. of Labor, the Small Business Administration and a team from Mitigation that will help residents make the most of their flood insurance program and review damages due to mildew and mold.
