Power To The People, After Irene

O&R Outage status, 7a 8/30/2011. Green icon indicates 1-25 customers at this location are still without power.

Nyack, Aug 30 7a — Several hundred Nyack households are still off the grid as Orange & Rockland crews work around the clock to reconnect customers knocked offline by the Sunday afternoon post-Irene winds. O&R crews are making rapid progress restoring power and are beating some of their own estimates for reconnecting Nyack residents.

If you are one of the 453 homes still without lights, visit the oru.com outage status page where you can enter your home phone number and get an updated status for your block.

The Village of Nyack is offering a concierge trash pickup if you have food that’s going bad without refrigeration.  “If you are still without power, and have cleaned out your freezer, then we will pick up your trash ASAP to avoid thawing meats and other desirable items that will attract animals,” say village officials in an email alert. Visit Nyack-NY.gov to and fill out the special trash pickup request form if you need this service
