A full volume test of the alert and notification sirens located throughout the emergency planning zone will be held Wednesday, May 11th at approximately 10:30 a.m. The sirens will sound for four minutes.

In the event of an actual emergency, the four minute sirens don’t signal an evacuation but are a prompt to tune to WHUD 100.7 FM for important information.
A new system, installed in 2009, includes 172 sirens covering the ten mile emergency planning zone around Indian Point.
