Nyack To Lower 2011 Tax Increase

by Dave Zornow

Nyack, April 24 — Nyack will reduce the village’s 2011-12 tax increase to just under one percent. The Village Board’s original budget proposal had omitted $52,900 in rental fees from the River Club restaurant. When the new revenues were included, the previously announced 1.6 tax hike was reduced to .96 percent. The almost-one-percent increase is in contrast to the 9.49 and 8.5 jumps in the previous two years. The announcement was made at last Thursday’s Village Board meeting.

VB members also took questions at the meeting from the public about a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) between the village and Riverspace regarding developing a plan to create a Superblock in downtown Nyack. Trustees will vote to approve or reject the MOU at the Wednesday 4/27 Village Board Meeting.
