If you know a senior who doesn’t act their age, Rockland county wants to know about them. The Office for the Aging Advisory Council is now accepting nominations for the 2011 Rockland County Senior Citizen of the Year and Outstanding Contribution by a Senior Citizen Award.
“This is a great way to honor senior citizens who volunteer freely of their time in our community,” says Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef. The deadline to submit nominations is March 31.
Who’s an outstanding 60+ citizen? Rockland’s Senior Citizen of the Year award will go to someone who volunteers services to enhance the lives of senior citizens in the community as a planner or an organizer. The Outstanding Contribution by a Senior Citizen award will be awarded to a Rockland resident 60 or older who volunteers on behalf of other seniors.
