No Swim For You

Lap swimmers at Nyack’s YMCA are saying “see you next year” after a December 2 storm damaged the ceiling in the pool area. The pool, sauna and hot tub area will be closed until repairs are completed in January. The whole ceiling is being replaced on the advice of the Y’s structural engineer.

“As of December 10, the pool has been drained and the scaffolding has been erected,” says an announcement on the YMCA’s Website. “Demolishing the ceiling will require about two weeks and installing the new ceiling about one week.  Following the installation of the new ceiling it must be painted and the pool refilled and brought to the proper temperature and chemical balance.”

Y members can still swim at the Tarrytown, White Plains and Ridgewood, NJ YMCAs as well as the  Diplomat Health and Swim Club in Piermont. Hours and directions to these facilities have been posted online.
