Here’s an opportunity to do good, get paid and work close to home.
Rockland County AmeriCorps (RCA), a program of the Rockland County Youth Bureau, is looking for people 21 and older for a part-time paid community service opportunity with our Youth Employment Program. Four positions are available beginning February 2011.
Youth Employment Program (YEP) AmeriCorps members will serve either 300-hours or 450 hours throughout the year. For their service, YEP AmeriCorps members receive a $3,123 living stipend and a $1,415 educational award for 450 hours of service as a Trainer, Job Coach and Site Monitor. Three hundred hour YEP AmeriCorps members receive a $2,000 living stipend and a $1,132 education award that can be used to pay towards college tuition or a qualified student loan. YEP members also receive training, networking and the experience of working with a spectrum of youth development professionals to add to their resume.
Potential candidates must be available during weekdays and some weekends. Other qualifications are a minimum of an Associates Degree and 6 months work experience. Candidates need to have flexibility, be a self-starter, show attention to detail, and act as a role model for all program participants.
Youth Employment AmeriCorps members will take on responsibilities such as providing job coaching readiness skills, life skills, workforce preparation, monitoring work sites, one-on-one job coaching with young people, skills assessment and reporting.
Participation in this program is an excellent way to explore career interests, bolster your resume, network, or donate one’s time, goodwill and expertise to a program that has a longstanding positive community impact. This is a wonderful opportunity for active retirees, college and graduate students, who are at least 21 years old.
