VB Gets an Earful on Street Fairs

The Village Board heard from a room full of merchants and other representatives on the importance of the street fairs.  A stenographer was even brought in to record the meeting.  John Costa, part owner of Hickory Dickory Dock and Counsel for ACADA and the Chamber of Commerce, spoke at length against the current “Hawking and Peddling” law, which was adopted in 1954 and has many provisions which are outdated and not relevant.

The Village ended by taking no action and setting the next public hearing for November 11.  The Village Attorney is directed to look at other laws that would be more appropriate to regulate special events like street fairs.
