Runners from around the region will step up to the starting line next Sunday at the 22nd Annual South Nyack Ten Miler. The run kicks off at 8:30a on Sunday, September 12. The route begins at Franklin Ave. Park and proceeds South to the Piermont Pier and finishes back at Franklin Park.
Tony Skiles of West Reading, PA finished with the best time in the 2009 event running the ten miles in just under and hour (59:35:35). Top local finishers included Thomas Noonan of Blauvelt in 4th place, Jamie Kempton (6th, Bardonia), Douglas McEnroe (7th, Stony Point) and Stephen Selby (9th, Pearl River).
Runners will compete in eleven separate age categories ranging from 19 and under through 65+. There are separate categories for every five years aged 20-64 (20-24, 35-29, 30-34, etc).
A children’s fun runs precedes the main event, starting at 8:15a on Sunday.
The event is presented by the Rockland Road Runners with proceeds benefiting the South Nyack and Piermont Volunteer Fire Departments and Junior Achievement. For more information, visit the Rockland Road Runners.
