Concert For 9/11 Remembrance

Grace Episcopal Church hosts the 9th Annual Concert for Remembrance on Sunday, September 12 at 5p in memory of the victims and heroes lost on September 11, 2001.

Edward Simons will conduct professional musicians from American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, Metropolitan Opera, New York Philharmonic, New Jersey Symphony, Albany Symphony, Hudson Valley Philharmonic, Long Island Philharmonic, Stamford Symphony and Rockland Symphony who have volunteered their time for this concert.

Barbara Allen, principal harpist of American Ballet Theatre, will perform Debussy’s ‘€œClair de Lune’€ followed by the orchestra performing J.S. Bach’s Suite No. 1. Marti Sweet and Annamae Goldstein of Metropolitan Opera Orchestra will perform a piece for two violins, Stephen Reid a work for solo cello and Alison Crowther, Jay Shulman and Jan Deats will perform the first movement of Mendelssohn’s Trio in D-minor. Jennifer Cece Bellon, soprano, will sing ‘€œAmazing Grace’€, a piece traditionally sung or played at firefighter memorial services.

The concert finale will be a performance of Richard Strauss’ Horn Concerto, Opus 11, No.1, with Patrick Milando, soloist.

There is no charge for admission. Grace Episcopal Church is at 130 First Avenue, Nyack, NY 10960.
