June 29, 8:20a — United Water has issued an advisory to Upper Nyack residents to boil water following a required service shutdown at Lake Deforest Treatment Plant on Monday. Customers are being told to boil their water until further notice.
The advisory affects Upper Nyack and a limited number of homes in Valley Cottage (404-406 Christian Herald Road).
The Rockland County Health Department is advising customers to boil their water for one minute for the following uses: drinking, cooking, baking, making ice cubes, washing dishes, taking medication, brushing teeth, washing food, mixing baby formula, mixing juices or drinks, feeding pets or other consumption. Water does not have to be boiled for showering or washing clothes. Customers should boil their water until further notice.
United Water says it usually takes about three days for emergency crews to evaluate water samples to ensure the quality of the water. For more information, visit United Water online, call them at 877 426 8969 or contact the Rockland County Health Department at 845.364.2608.
