Lowey Endorses Carlucci For NYS Senate

Rockland County, June 3 — Clarkstown Clerk David Carlucci has picked up endorsements from Orangetown, Orange County and Congresswoman Nita Lowey in his bid to be the Democratic candidate for New York State Senate representing Rockland County.

“David Carlucci has the experience to deliver for his district,” says Lowey, whose 18th Congressional District overlaps the area Carlucci hopes to represent. “His attitude and abilities are just what the district and state needs.”

“I gladly accept the confidence the Congresswoman has placed in me and am ready to lead the charge in reforming the way the New York State Senate does business,” says Carlucci.

Carlucci has also received endorsements from the Orangetown Democratic Committee and Orange County Democrats. He bested fellow Democrat and county resident Peter Dolan, Tuxedo’s Town Supervisor, to get Orange County’s nod.

Carlucci, Dolan, Ramapo resident Grant Valentine and Upper Nyack’s Lou Tharp are competing for the Democratic nomination to succeed retiring Republican Senator Tom Morahan. Rockland County Executive Scott Vanderhoef and Rockland County Legislator Ed Day are the leading contenders for the Republican nomination.

All four Democratic senate candidates will speak at a Meet the State Senate Candidates night sponsored by the Rockland Progressive Democratic Caucus on Monday, June 7, from 7p-9p at the new meeting room at Nyack’s Public Library.
