Women of Leadership and Vision

The Nyack Center will honor four women whose vision and  innovation has improved the quality for many others at the Women of Leadership and Vision brunch on Saturday April 17.

“We are so excited to host this event for the seventh year, we are honoring phenomenal group of strong women who are working for change in their communities and the world” says Kim Cross, Executive Director of The Nyack Center. “The women we are honoring embody the spirit of community and innovation.”

The event will be held on Saturday, April 17 at 10am in The Nyack Center. The four honorees are:

  • Dr. Joan Dye Gussow-is a serious food producer, a writer, and a retiree from Teachers College, Columbia University, serves on and chaired many organizational boards, Trustee on the Board of her Hudson River village. She is author of The Feeding Web, The Nutrition Debate, and Chicken Little, Tomato Sauce and Agriculture. This Organic Life: Confessions of a Suburban Homesteader.
  • Barbara Kohlhausen-CEO and President of Meals on Wheels and Services of Rockland County, entrepreneur, social worker, past chairperson of United Hospice of Rockland, has served on many boards and was Rockland Development Council’s Volunteer of the Year in 2007.
  • Orial A. Redd ‘€“ Retired Assistant to the Westchester County Executive for Human Services Accomplished civil rights and political activist, past vice chair of Nyack Center’s Board, founding member of the Black Democrats of Westchester and the Westchester Black Women’s Political Caucus.
  • Trudi Feiner- Community activist, helped organize HeadStart, served on HeadStart’s board of directors and remains an advocate for the program, a leader in the struggle to desegregate Nyack’s Public Schools, served on Steering Committee of the Friends of the Nyacks, member of the YMCA and Democratic Committee.
