Fed Funds For Food, Shelter in Rockland

Rockland will receive $155,367 in federal funds to expand high-need food and shelter programs in the county. The Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) grant will be administered by United Way of Rockland County.

In order for agencies to receive EFSP funding, they must be private voluntary non-profits; have an accounting system; practice nondiscrimination; have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs and have a voluntary board.

Last year, EFSP funds were awarded to Catholic Community Services, Christ Church of Ramapo, Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, Meals on Wheels, People to People, Project Hope Church of God, Rockland Family Shelter, Saint Agatha’s Home, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, St. Vincent dePaul Society, Tomche Shabbos of Rockland, T.O.U.C.H. and United Church of Spring Valley just to name a few.

Applications for 2010 ESFP funds are available to qualified agencies through the United Way of Rockland County.  Please contact Trish Austin, Director of Community Impact, at 845-358-8929, ext. 14 or taustin@uwrc.org.  Deadline for submission of applications is March 5.
