Village Board Road Show

by Richard Kavesh

Nyack, Jan 27 — If you come to Village Hall tomorrow night looking for the Village Board meeting, you’ll find the lights out and a sign on the front door.

That’s because the new Village Board is taking our second full meeting of the year on the road and will be conducting it at the Nyack Senior Center, 90 Depew Avenue. The meeting will start at the regular time, 7:30p. The meeting is open to the public, of course, and those who wish to address the board may sign in on the spot and speak for up to three minutes.

For public officials, listening is job # 1. Many of the nearby residents of 90 Depew are seniors for whom it is often difficult to go out at night and attend our meetings at Village Hall.

By taking our meetings on the road and bringing government to the people, we hope to hear from a more diverse group of constituents than if we held all our meetings at Village Hall. The VB’s past such meetings at the Senior Center and up in Waldron Terrace have been very successful in that regard.

Richard Kavesh is mayor of the Village of Nyack. You can call him at 353-1935.
