Petersen’s Boatyard and Van Houtens Landing

by Brian Jennings

Hear the story of Upper Nyack’s 19th century neighborhood and its famous  boatyard on Monday 1/11 at the Nyack Library. Upper Nyack Village Historian Win Perry will give a talk on the Van Houten’s Landing neighborhood that has retained its unique character over time.

Photographs from Perry’s personal collection and the Nyack Library will help recreate the look and feel of the riverfront community through its long history.  Perry will also trace the history building of sloops, schooners, steamboats, great yachts, cabin cruisers and military boats through its current use as a repair and storage facility. Petersen’s has recently been in the news as its owners are trying sell the property for residential development and Perry will present an update on where this currently stands.

Come to the Nyack Library’s new meeting room on Monday, January 11. The talk will begin at 7:30p.  Please use the new Hudson Avenue entrance.
