A New Ford for 2010

Orangetown, Jan 21 — A potential Kirsten Gillibrand U.S. Senate challenger stopped in at the Stateline Diner on Route 303 in Tappan on Thursday to woo local Democratic leaders.

Former Tennessee Congressman Harold Ford met with Orangetown Councilman Michael Maturo, Rockland Democratic Committee Chairman Vince Monte and Orangetown Democratic Committee Chairman Bob Crable on Thursday morning.

Maturo confirmed the meeting took place. “I reached out to him through his office at Merrill Lynch and it all worked out.  It was an excellent meeting,” Maturo said.

Except for two small slip-ups. Ford inadvertently introduced himself to two diner patrons saying he was “running for Senate,’€ rather than saying he was only considering a run.

Ford represented Tennessee in Congress from 1997 to 2007. He is currently on leave from his position as vice chairman of Bank of America-Merrill Lynch.
