Arts Angels in Nyack

by Vera Rulon

Nyack’s Arts Angels promise an evening of fun, film and student performances for fans of the arts and supporters of Nyack Schools’ programs on Friday 12/4.  Enjoy drinks, appetizers and fun at the Nyack Center from 7p-10p.

Heather Winters, executive producer of the movie Supersize Me!, will show clips from  Class Act, a film she produced about the importance of the arts in education. Local celebrity Celeste Simone will provide the evening’s entertainment. This event is co-sponsored by Rivertown Film society.

“The purpose of arts education is not to produce artists.  That happens as a byproduct.  The purpose of arts education is to speak to and realize the full human potential of average people.”  Dana Gioia,  National Endowment for the Arts

“Art is the signature of civilizations.”  Beverly Sills
“Art is the only way to run away without leaving home.”  Twyla Tharp
“Every child is an artist.  The problem is how to remain an artist once you grow up.”  Pablo Picasso
