Julie Springman waitressed at Nyack’s Hudson House restaurant for many years until one fateful day when she suffered a severe stroke which left her paralyzed.
At age 47, Julie’s life took a sudden change. She was no longer able to work or be independent. After spending several months at Helen Hayes Hospital for rehabilitation, Julie remains paralyzed on her left side. She has been forced to begin a new life with a body she doesn’t know anymore, learning how to walk with a cane and a brace. Her hand is curled and atrophied. She also had to move out of her apartment and back into her elderly mother’s house.
Julie needs a new wheelchair and additional equipment and provisions to make her life more comfortable.
We, at Olive’s, have decided to have a fundraiser for Julie. Please come and help a neighbor and familiar Nyack face have a better life. Join us for food, music and fun at Olive’s, 118 Main Street in Nyack, Monday night 10/5 at 8p.
