Stunned by a misleading endorsement from Vince Monte which first appeared on Denise Hogan’s campaign Web site on Monday, I spoke with Monte, the chair of the Rockland County Democratic Committee, to clear up any doubt on who he’s backing in Nyack’s mayoral race. And it certainly is not Denise Hogan!
I explained to Vince how much of this campaign is being played out right here on the pages of Nyack News and Views, so he gave me permission to write this on his behalf to make it crystal clear who he is supporting:
“Now that the primary is over,” says Monte, “I emphatically put my support behind Richard Kavesh, the Democratic Party candidate, for Mayor of Nyack.” [Emphasis on “emphatically” was asked for by Monte, not myself.]
“The Democratic voters in Nyack have spoken in their primary,” he said.
Monte had shown this support for Kavesh earlier at a Young Democrat’s meeting at O’Malley’s Pub in Nyack on October 13. Since that meeting, his primary endorsement, which has been misleading to some who viewed it, suddenly appeared at the topthe endorsements page of Denise Hogan’s Web site. Monte is longer supports Denise Hogan’s candidacy, despite what the update to the campaign site implies. Hogan’s Web site is misleading voters.
Monte said that he would contact Hogan’s campaign and demand that the endorsement from him be removed from her Web site.
