Rockland County Dem Chair Endorses Kavesh

New City, Oct. 9: Rockland County Democratic Chairman Vincent Monte has endorsed the candidacy of Richard Kavesh for Mayor of Nyack and urged all Nyack and Rockland County Democrats to support Kavesh’s candidacy.

‘€œRichard has served the people of Nyack with distinction as a Trustee for the last nine years,’€ Monte said. ‘€œHe led Nyack’s battle for more affordable housing and led the village’s efforts to secure $200,000 in federal funds for the handicapped-accessible bathrooms in Memorial Park, sidewalks on Waldron Avenue, and improving drainage on South Broadway. He championed the addition of more than 100 parking spaces in Nyack’s downtown.’€

Monte also hailed Kavesh for his fiscal responsibility and dedication to constituent service. ‘€œRichard was the only village board member to vote against Nyack’s 9.4% tax increase this year. And no problem is too big or too small ‘€“ Richard will help you,’€ Monte added.

Monte said that Kavesh is committed to making Nyack an even better place to live, work, visit, raise a family, and run a business. ‘€œRichard is one of the most innovative and hard-working public officials I know,’€ Monte said. ‘€œHe is the only candidate to promote streaming Nyack’s meetings on the internet, to improve Nyack’s website, and to call for eco-friendly, green building codes. Most importantly of all, I know from personal experience that Richard will listen closely, act fairly, and work with the people of Nyack and for the people of Nyack’€

Kavesh won Nyack’s hotly-contested Democratic primary election on September 15th, running on a platform of improved infrastructure, open government, and fiscal responsibility. ‘€œI call on all Nyack voters ‘€“ and all Democrats in Rockland County ‘€“ to rally behind Richard’s candidacy. The time has come to put our past differences aside, to join together, and to work for a Democratic victory for Thom Kleiner, Richard Kavesh, and all the candidates all over Rockland who are running on Row A on November 3rd.
