As Others See Us: A 9W Travelog-Blog

Here’s a travel blog with a local twist, following 9W as it climbs its way through Rockland County through the eyes of a local.

“I realized that there were many places I drove past but had never been in, or in some cases, had no idea what they were,” says Stony Point blogger Jeanne Shields. “I have an affinity for all the Rivertowns.  I wanted to do a blog that covered these towns,” she says.

Starting at the New Jersey border, Shields profiles many familiar local sites in Palisades, Sparkhill and Nyack in the RocklandCounty9w Blog including Tallman State Park, the Hinode Japanese Restaurant, Pals, Nyack Hospital and Dapper Dog.

Shields says that a little bit of time yields alot of material and many friendly faces. “I am finding that a few hours taking pictures, meeting people can give me plenty to write about,” she says.

She plans to travel as far as the Rockland/Orange border and include some hiking trails with the goal of reaching the Bear Mountain Inn. “It’s a beautiful building rich in history,” Shields says.
