Friday was a long awaited clean up day for Second Avenue, between Broadway and Gedney. There were seven Public Works guys working with rakes, chain saws, hedge clippers, lawn mowers and a dedicated garbage truck. Neighbors watched as the house at 28 Second Ave was revealed from all the overgrown vines, bushes and trees.
The Village Board passed a resolution asking Public Works to clean up the property, the cost of which will be added to the owner’s property taxes. Nobody is living at the residence.
It was a satisfying sight to see the property getting cleaned up. “I have been waiting for this for years,” said a neighbor. Vic Overton, head of Public Works, said that some people take drugs to make them happy, but this was all he needs.
