Nyack FD Takes Top Prize

Just as members of Orangetown Fire Engine Co. No. 1 on Depot Place are preparing to celebrate the company’s 175th anniversary, they have another reason to rejoice – they’ve won the best overall unit award in the Rockland County Firemen’s Association Annual Parade.

Orangetown No. 1, one of the Nyack Fire Department’s eight companies, marched Saturday in the parade hosted by the Tallman Fire Deparment, which celebrates its 1ooth anniversary this fall. The Nyack unit had one of the biggest turnouts for the parade, with stretched from Airmont Road to the Tallman firehouse on Route 59 in Ramapo.

The Orangetown No. 1 marchers were also joined by members of other NFD companies. Orangetown members were hoping for a good showing in the county parade as a prelude to their own upcoming anniversary celebration.
