The path is a partially paved roadway and a partially mulched and/or dirt trail. The one hour walk is on a flat trail with some slight inclines.
Young children will be entertained by a nature game, bark rubbings, a scavenger hunt, and fake tattoos. In addition free, healthy snacks and other prizes will be provided along the walk. For participants more interested in the history of the park and Rockland County, you won’t want to miss the docent interpretive history discussion.
Participants who wish to explore another County park can take part in a walk right down the street to Dutch Garden County Park at 11a.
Join the Rockland County Trail Guide Docents in this FUN FOR ALL event co-sponsored by the Eat Well Play Hard Program of the Rockland County Department of Health. Walkers should meet at 10a in the parking lot at the entrance of Demarest Kill Park off New Hempstead Road. There is no parking fee. The park entrance is east of the intersection of Little Tor Road and New Hempstead Road, just opposite John Street in New City. Please note there are no restrooms available.
Participants should wear proper footwear (close-toed shoes). In addition walkers should bring water and snacks, and sunscreen is recommended.
