Old-Fashioned Family Fun Day at HSRC

Step back in time for a fantastic day at the Historical Society of Rockland County’s Old-Fashioned Summer Family Fun Day on Sunday, July 19 from 12:00 ‘€“ 5:00 p.m.

Each room of the 1832 Jacob Blauvelt House will be brought to life with docents in period costumes, giving demonstrations with plenty of period activities for the entire family to enjoy in the Jacob Blauvelt House, museum and on the grounds.Highlights of the day will include tours of the 1832 Jacob Blauvelt House featuring hand-cranked ice cream making demonstrations & samples; dip your own candles; visit the Lenape Longhouse and grind corn in an authentic grinding stone; try on 19th Century clothes; write with slate pencils and on slates; and get creative with crafts including stenciling, paper art, yarn dolls and more.

Experience typical games children would play, learn how the evenings were spent with knitting, whittling and quilting and take a peek at what the gardening and summer cooking was like with canning, lemonade, ginger water and more.

Bring your own picnic to enjoy on the beautiful grounds.

Admission is $5 per person and includes admission to the current exhibition The Tappan Zee Bridge: Transforming Rockland County.
