One More Spin Around The Mall?

What’s 101 years old, doesn’t go much of anywhere anymore and spends most of the time going around in circles at the mall?

After a 12 year stay at the Palisades Mall, it’s time for the carousel to move on. The Journal News says the spinning centenarian will close after June 14. Listed on the National Register of Historic (Moving?) Places, the hand-crafted ride is one of 140 remaining wood carousels built between 1825 and World War II. The Palisades Mall was its most recent stop, with previous venues including Wendell’s Park at the end of the trolley line in upper Manhattan,  Akron, Milwaukee, Muskego and Oshkosh (Wisconsin), Vancouver and California.

It will be replaced by a new, two story double decker carousel.
