Kavesh Joins Four Others in Mayor’s Race

Nyack Village Trustee Richard Kavesh is running for mayor joining a field of four other candidates. The 27 year resident of the village promises “to renew Nyack’s commitment to having the most open, responsive, fiscally responsible, and environmentally sensitive local government in Rockland County” in a letter announcing his candidacy. Kavesh says he’s running because Nyack is a great “walking village,” but wherever he goes he hears people say they are frustrated with their local government.

Kavesh is a former journalist who now teaches social studies in the Bronx. He has served as a village board trustee since 2001.

Previously declared candidates include village trustees Denise Hogan and Marie Lorenzini. Local business owners Richard Quinn and Marianne Olive have also declared.
