Discover Your Inner Docent

If you like people as much as you love Mother Nature, Rockland County would like you to step outside…and volunteer to be a Rockland County Trail Guide Docent. A docent is a knowledgeable trail guide trained to lead park walks.

The county is looking for outdoor enthusiasts to lead guided walks at local parks. If you are 18 or older and willing to lead walks as part of an organization you work for or represent there’s a place for you in the great outdoors of Rockland County. Benefits include fresh air, the opportunity to meet lots of interesting people, free training and guide-gear for docents commit to facilitating a minimum of two guided walks per year.

Interested volunteers must complete an application and attend training sessions. For an application and for more information, visit www.rocklandgov.com/americorps or call 845-708-7307.  More information about the docent program is also available from Steps to a Healthier Rockland.
