Denise Hogan running for Mayor

I was just walking down Broadway, in front of Back to Earth when I heard “I am running for Mayor”.  No big launching parties here, Trustee Denise Hogan is telling her friends that she has decided to give up her Village Board seat and run for Mayor.  As Denise says, “everybody is coming out of the woodwork” so she feels the need to start telling people.

In our quick conversation on the sidewalk, she described key items in her platform-to-be, which is to increase ratables, and make it easier to do business in Nyack.  She also feels that the affordable housing requirement needs to go.  She would like to find out how much affordable housing exists in the Village, and feels there there is enough.

The next step is for the local Democratic Committee to select the slate on its ticket.  Fellow Trustee Marie Lorenzine has said that she is running for Mayor, and others have expressed interest, so the Committee will have to decide who will be on the ticket.  Denise has said that she is willing to run a primary to get on the Democratic line.

The Democratic Committee met this last week and elected new members, a new chair, and is getting ready to go through the selection process.
