Mayor Shields Will Not Run Again

Mayor John Shields sent out letters today to the County and local Democratic Committees stating that he does not plan to run again the Village of Nyack Mayor.  “I’ve been Mayor for eight years, and I’m ready to move on”.  One of his top priorities in his remaining time this year will be to support the developing park plan by the Parks Conservancy.

Shields has served four terms as Mayor of the Village of Nyack.

The Mayor is also planning to leave the Democratic Party to be an Independent.  He feels that neither party is supporting the GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender) community.  He urges all in the GLBT to move away from the Democratic Party.
