The Nyack Parks Conservancy has hired Quennell Rothschild and Partners, a well regarded NYC firm, to design and help implement a plan to redesign Memorial Park and the adjacent parking area, marina and restaurant to the north. Critical to this plan is securing easement rights and building a pedestrian bridge across the little inlet between the park and the parking area to the north. Quennell has shown a couple options on possible development.
The Parks Conservancy will meet to discuss, and then set up a public meeting for review.
Of course the improved park will not be free, and the Conservancy is lucky to secure (on spec) services of an expert who will try to obtain State and Federal funding to help pay for the project. He is optimistic that Nyack’s plans will score well and get assistance.
Stay tuned, an announcement will be made soon to set up the public meeting.
