Monday Main Street Fire in Nyack

Nyack’s Main Street was shut down for an hour on Monday afternoon as over 50 fireman put out a blaze at the RC custom T-Shirt store.

The fire at 95 1/2 Main St. was reported at 3:20 p.m. when employee Katie Beary, 19, and customer Bella Zarember, 13, smelled smoke in the store. Beary at first turned off a heat press in the store thinking it was the cause, but then saw smoke coming up from the floorboards at the front of the store.

“I just grabbed my bag and ran out,” Beary said. “At least I didn’t cause the fire, that’s all I care about. But, yeah, we definitely got freaked out.”
