Jazz In The Park Tuesday

The Westchester Jazz Orchestra performs at Memorial Park in Nyack on Tuesday, July 22 at 7:30 PM as part of the week-long Nyack jazz festival. The program features arrangements commissioned by WJO and written by Nyack resident Mike Holober.

A world-class ensemble made up of 17 jazz greats, the WJO’s debut CD became one of the most frequently played jazz CDs in the nation bringing national recognition to the ensemble earlier this year. In January, WJO’s CD All In zoomed onto the JazzWeek chart, a weekly tally of the top 50 jazz CDs played by radio stations nationwide and in Canada, peaking at number 4 the week of March 10. All In enjoyed a 13-week run on JazzWeek.

Led by Artistic Director Mike Holober, WJO musicians include trumpeters Craig Johnson, Tony Kadleck, Jim Rotondi and Marvin Stamm; saxophonists Jay Brandford, David Brandom, Ralph Lalama, Jason Rigby and Ed Xiques; trombonists Bruce Eidem, Larry Farrell, George Flynn, and Keith O’Quinn; pianist Ted Rosenthal; bassist Harvie S and drummer Andy Watson.

The Nyack concert will be held at Memorial Park, at the bottom of Depew Avenue just east of Piermont Avenue. The rain location is Riverspace on Main Street in Nyack.
